Did you know the Co-op has a sister organization – the Tri-Cities Food Foundation. The Foundation was a dream held by a handful of tenacious individuals in early 2025. Nearly a year later, the dream is now reality. We officially received our 501(c)(3) nonprofit status, effective May 2025.

Our purpose is mighty! We will provide opportunities for growth and sustainment to the Tri-Cities Food Co-op, its members, and the associated community. We advocate and provide food education and need-based outreach within our community, support grower transition to fully organic, and maintain the Tri-Cities Food Co-ops’ viability. Your contributions to our Foundation are tax deductible to the full extent of the law.

Our Initial Board of Directors:

  • Bert Day, Chair/Treasurer
  • Alan Schreiber, Vice-Chair
  • Jamie Barker, Secretary

Articles of Incorporation & Bylaws

GIVING

The Tri-Cities Food Foundation raises critical funds to support the continued growth of our community- based Tri-Cities Food Co-op, helping expand access to locally sourced, organic foods offered at prices fair to both farmers and consumers. By partnering with local growers, we strengthen community connections, encourage healthy eating, and reduce our environmental impact — proving that when we grow together, everyone thrives.

We are inviting YOU to be part of this mission by helping us raise funds. Each individual, family, or organization has unique charitable interests and unique financial circumstances. We help you make the most of both, so you receive the greatest return on your donation. Your gift qualifies for the maximum charitable benefit under state and federal law.

Outright gift: You can make a gift of cash, stocks, or other assets to the Tri-Cities Food Foundation. Talk with your financial advisor about a Qualified Charitable Deduction (QCD) or highly appreciated stock donations to maximize your charitable giving even more.

Sponsorship: Through your sponsorship, you are helping us expand what’s possible: build out store infrastructure, launch educational programs, and fund the essential operations that make this space thrive. Whether it’s a new point-of-sale system or vibrant deli counter, your support is a direct investment in something local, sustainable, and enduring.

In-Kind Donations: You might have time, talents, or treasures that can help us fill some of our needs. Please contact us to discuss.

Peer-to-peer and team fundraising: Every thought of asking for donations to your favorite charity rather than birthday or Christmas presents? Yes, you can do this! We are currently working on this option and will make a newsletter announcement once it becomes available.

House Party with like-minded individuals: We are always up for in-person conversations with you and a group of your friends to discuss everything Tri-Cities Food Co-op and different ways of giving. Please contact us to discuss where and when.

Legacy Giving / Estate Planning: You can designate a gift or portion of your estate to the Tri-Cities Food Foundation and, in some cases, receive a substantial reduction in federal gift and estate taxes.
